I am a hard working single mom with my own business. I run a pet grooming salon out of a kennel and I absolutely love it! I have 4 dogs, a cat and a horse so needless to say, I love animals. I also love 4-wheeling, camping, fishing and football. I love being outdoors with all of my "children". I always enjoy a good novel and my daughter has me hooked on Sesame Street (sad, I know). And yes, that also means that I am easily amused. A real, true, honest friendship is what I'm looking for in a relationship. Someone I can hang out with and have a good time. But, please dont be clingy, it is not a becoming trait., Clinginess is typically a girl trait, but I know some guys out there that fall into that category. Just as guys enjoy their boys night out, I enjoy my girls night out (or just some me time) so no bitter, jealous complaining from my end when you have a boys night out and let me have some time to myself. That about sums it up for me. I try not to be a complicated person and I think I am mostly successful in that endeavor, but you know how hard that is for a woman :)

Absolute bare minimum facts about me; I'm a Heathen (Asatru) man. I'm a widower (6+ years), I'm raising my son by myself. I'm 48 with the mindset of someone who is 35ish. I would LIKE to find someone between the ages of 30 to 45. Thin, skinny, petite to average is what I like but it's not an absolute, just a ballpark thing. Normally when I'm with a woman I'm the type of guy that focuses on the smaller things that make her happy. I'm not afraid to show people that I care for the person I'm with. But as for how i am.... I'm a bit of a slacker, I like to relax and enjoy my creature comforts. Of course, nothings more fun then getting together with friends and going for a drive. You never know what can happen. I can end up at a club, a coffee shop, a bonfire party can get started..... or in a basement on a couch, eating cheeto's playing sonic with my best friends. I enjoy random adventures, and the simple life at times back to back.

I've always held my friends to be the most important thing, and i put them first. The second is my individual identity and the preservation of it.

But sometimes I like a quiet life, being able to sit down with a book, or play some video games, or watch a crappy scifi movie. Either way i'm happy.

Still, i like to read and study the world and universe and the many complexities of it. The greatest thing to me is unbiased knowledge and being able to plunge into the mystery of anything and search for answers. Just being able to find one more little spark of magic in the world is my goal.

Of course, all goals mean nothing if there's no one to share it with whether it be a lover or a close friend.

I love new things, mysteries, dreams, ideas and concepts. I love talking about deeper thigs because i like to learn about things that are completely different from mainstream ideas and knowledge.

OK so first I will start by saying that I just got out of a two year long relationship. Do not really know what I am looking for at this point. I have a golden retriever who is goofy as hell. I also have three cats. One of which adores the golden retriever and follows her around like a shadow. I also have another cat who has a love/hate relationship with the dog. I find it funny because the cat pops out at the dog and the dog bolts scared out of her wits. The third we refer to as the black dog because he acts like a dog even though hes a cat. He doesn't use the litter box, he likes to be let out to use the bathroom.

I currently am living in Radford, attending school. I have green eyes and brown hair. I am big for my size but I am tall and I carry my weight all over my body so it evens itself out, so I am told. I enjoy laughing and I like to think that I can make others laugh too. I can be blonde at times. I am very random. I enjoy talking about pretty much anything. I love to talk about the world and views. I love having serious conversations about things that really matter to people. I also enjoy being girly but also getting down and dirty too. I enjoy being outside. I love the winter, but I love summer for being tan and the beach. One of my greatest passions is singing and dancing.

I also love camping and hiking. I have been camping ever since I was a newborn...its a family thing. There is nothing like a camp fire and sleeping when the sun goes down and waking up when the sun comes up. :) One of my favorite places to camp is Shenandoah.

I guess I should also mention that I like to swim...a lot. Competitive swimming has been a huge part of my life. I enjoy the pool and laying out beside it. I work at one in the summers and love everything about working outside. I coach swim team as well. I am outside at the pool 24/7 in the summer. I always smell of chlorine in the summer, its my personal perfume.

If I could pick one place to live I would choose somewhere close to the water with a beautiful view.

People seem to have a hard time telling that I'm not trying to persecute them, nor am I trying to be disrespectful, but I'm merely figuring out how they tick. Hi! I went to VT for a vast number of years and now work as a Disgruntled Scientist (hence the username) in one of the labs on campus. I think a little more school and some form of teaching are in my future, but those plans need a little more thought. I have a dog (Golden Retriever / Plott Hound) named Sophia that is a fan of wandering in the outdoors and playing fetch off the deck. One day I woke up, got in the car, drove until I was completely lost, and then tried to find myself again. Instead I found a waterfall and ended up having an impromptu picnic with some crackers I kept in my dashboard and an apple juice I'd bought at a convenience store.

I like (here comes the Parade Of Brackets) reading, writing, cooking, bluegrass (listening to it dancing to it), watching Family Guy and Top Chef, running (three times a week and I have to admit, I'm not very fast or athletic), and may take up playing the fiddle, despite having no musical training or talent. I am the kind of person who believes that it is important to do little acts of kindness everyday. But, don't get me wrong, I am not a saint and I love to hang out with friends and drink and have a good time. I also like to read historical fiction. I am a musician; I play the harp, piano and sing. I love any kind of dog. I think it is important to learn as much as you can. I like to think of myself as a goofy intellectual.

I'm a graduate student at Tech, I have two dogs who I love to pieces, friends I love to pieces (usually), I'm pretty happy with my life except that I lack a special someone. I'm from a completely normal family, meaning none of us ever talked while I was growing up except to say "everything's fine!" which, luckily for us, was usually the case. Early on my dad thought I was going to be an actor, probably due to the fact that at every family gathering I demanded to be the center of attention, even if it meant vomiting on his tie when I was three because he tickled me too much (a fact I have never, ever lived down). In addition to the aforementioned vomiting, I managed to eat a small tub of vaseline, slice my lower lip open while "shaving" with my dad's razor, and wedge one of my mother's hard contact lenses below my left eyelid. By the time I was eight, the doctors at the local ER knew me by name.

After barely surviving childhood, I became an adolescent fraught with the usual angst, moodiness, and terrible taste in music. Then came college, more angst, moodiness, and slightly less terrible taste in music. And also a b.a. in English and a master's in education. And also marijuana smoked out of an apple core as the first of two drug experiences.

Amid all this growing up, there were occasional bouts of intelligence, Calvin and Hobbes, many, many movies, hamsters, a love of writing, pseudo-outdoorsmenesque behavior, great friendships, failed romances, and several pantloads of laughter.
